MIA DONAJ

Split Screen Experiment (2024)

Two versions of the same person move through a shared domestic space, occupying the same moment without fully occupying it together. Ordinary gestures repeat, overlap, and occasionally fall into unexpected synchrony.

The work considers the strange distance that can exist within the self: the experience of being both participant and observer in one's own life. Through repetition and doubling, a familiar routine becomes an encounter with another version of oneself.
